Paulo Mirpuri
President and Chief Executive Officer

Paulo Mirpuri was appointed Safeport’s President and CEO in 2005, leading the company to its present unquestionable status of market leader in the segment of Business Aviation in Portugal. Over the last 30 years, Paulo Mirpuri has accumulated a wealth of expertise in the aviation industry, with top management positions in several airlines such as AL, NetJets and Hi Fly – that he currently presides. He has also been successfully leading aviation support service companies: MESA - aircraft maintenance, Target - aircraft trading, LSKY – inflight catering, SGAB - airport management among others. In addition to his long business experience, Paulo Mirpuri is a qualified doctor who graduated from the Medical School at Lisbon University (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), and an Airbus qualified pilot.

Carlos Mirpuri

Captain Carlos Mirpuri is Safeport’s Vice-President and co-founder. A professional pilot since 1981, he has an extensive technical and managerial background. Captain Carlos Mirpuri holds both EASA and FAA ATPL and is also TRI and Senior TRE. With a total flight time of over 16,000 hours, including over 11,000 Command hours in Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft, he is qualified and current on A320, A330, A350, A340 and A380. Captain Mirpuri is also qualified to perform three engine ferry flights in Quads, factory trained to perform Functional Check Flights on Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft, and is a UPRT trainer. He has also flown A310s, Lockheed Tristar, B727, B737, Cessna Citation, Rockwell Commanders, Beechcraft King Air, DHC - 6 Twin Otter, multiple MEP and SEP. He also holds a Helicopter Pilot License and frequently flies Rotary wing aircraft. Captain Carlos Mirpuri has accumulated decades of aviation and management experience through the companies he co-founded, including NJE, LXR, MESA, Safeport, LSKY and Hi Fly.

Sérgio Bagorro
Chief Financial Officer

Sérgio Bagorro is Safeport’s CFO since 2006. He is also CFO of the Mirpuri Group which includes other companies in the Aviation sector, namely Hi Fly Airline, LSKY – inflight catering and MESA - aircraft maintenance. Additionally, Sérgio is CEO of the Group’s holding and Hi Fly, Ltd, the sister Airline based in Malta since 2013. Previous to joining Hi Fly, Sérgio Bagorro was the General Manager at the Law Firm “Miranda, Correia, Amendoeira & Associados” (2005 and 2006), after having been Vice-General Manager of Telepizza Portugal since 1999. From 1997 to 1999, he worked for Sabena – Swissair Group as Financial Manager, and was also Vice-Chairman of IATA Portugal (Panel of IATA Airlines BSP operating in Portugal). Sérgio Bagorro started his career in 1991 as Finance Manager at Telecom Marconi Group and Marconi Holdings, followed by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) as Senior Finance Consultant (from 1994 to 1997).

Cristina Becken
Lisbon, Cascais and Faro Handling Manager

Cristina Becken is both Business Coordinator and Operations Coordinator at Safeport since 2007. Her responsibilities include overseeing the activities of the company at Lisbon, Cascais and Faro Airports. With 15 years of experience in the aviation industry, Cristina Becken started in 2001 as Traffic Assistant at a European airline, contributing for the opening of its Lisbon Station, working namely in the Passengers Handling Department. Later on, Cristina Becken was nominated Traffic Supervisor and, after that, Departures Control System Coordinator. She started working at Hi Fly airline as Flight Attendant, having also worked in the company’s Operations Control Center. Between 2007 and 2010, Cristina Becken became Director of Ground Operations at Hi Fly airlines and later became Handling Manager at Safeport.

Cristiana Sousa
Oporto Handling Manager

Cristiana Sousa is the coordinator of Safeport Oporto’s activity since 2007. With 14 years’ experience in the aviation world, she joined the Ground Operations Team of a european airline in 2002, firstly as a Traffic Agent and later as Traffic Supervisor in Madeira Island Airport. From 2004 to 2006 she was Station Manager of Oporto for the same company. After a brief period at TAP Air Portugal, she joined Safeport team in 2007, becoming Safeport Oporto’s Manager. Before she was also Ground Coordinator in several other airports, namely Ascension Island Airport, in Saint Helena; Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, in Belize City; Brussels Airport, in Belgium; London Gatwick Airport, in the United Kingdom; and Mount Pleasant Airport, in Falkland Islands.

Astrigilda Almeida 
Cape Verde Handling Manager

Astrigilda Almeida is responsible for both Safeport’s Ground and Marketing Operations, as well as for the development of its business strategies and for its Client Management, in Cape Verde since 2005. Having 32 years’ experience, she joined a handling company in Cape Verde in 2002, having been the General Manager of its Business Aviation Center. Astrigilda Almeida started in the aviation industry back in 1984 in TACV Cape Verde Airlines, where she assumed different responsibilities and functions, along the time: was Chief Sales Officer; worked also as Chief of the Passengers Assistance Department; was the person in charge of the Irregularity Management Cabinet; and later on was nominated Regional Commercial Director.
