Safeport was invited by Universidade NOVA de Lisboa to attend the official launch and first public presentation of NOVA Aerospace – The Concept. The project aims to establish a dedicated hub for education and research in aerospace engineering, based in Tires, next to Safeport facilities in the Cascais Municipal Aerodrome.
The NOVA Aerospace project seeks to strengthen the connection between academic institutions and the aerospace and aviation industry by creating a unique ecosystem for research, innovation, and knowledge transfer, contributing to the long-term development of the sector in Portugal.
Safeport’s presence at the event reflects its commitment to fostering collaboration between industry and academic institutions, as well as supporting initiatives that promote innovation, research, and talent development in the aerospace sector.
Throughout the day, attendees explored NOVA FCT research projects and learned about NOVA Aerospace’s vision as a scientific and technological hub supporting the national aerospace sector.
The event also brought together government representatives, policymakers, and key stakeholders from national and international aerospace and aviation organisations, including Nuno Piteira Lopes, Mayor of Cascais, and Ana Vieira da Mata, President of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), fostering strategic dialogue and collaboration and highlighting the strong engagement of public institutions in the project.
